Variances between the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), insurance policy number or National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) number provided to local licensing officials could be different and could result in the insurer being unable to verify insurance coverage for the vehicle. To determine a possible VIN discrepancy, the registrant should check the VIN listed on their insurance card and registration receipt to find any discrepancies. If the VIN on the registrant’s insurance card is incorrect, the registrant should contact their insurer to get the information corrected. If the registrant believes the VIN reflected on the registration receipt is incorrect, the registrant should check with their local licensing official.
