All residents of Alabama who are active, retired, or honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. Air Force may purchase license plates in this category.

Required Documents

One of the following documents must be presented to the license plate issuing official:

  • Military ID
  • Leave and Earnings Statement
  • DD214
  • Affidavit from Veteran Affairs
  • The “Application for Disability Access Parking Privileges” must be provided to obtain the disability access license plate decal.

Registration Fees:

$15 to $890, depending on the type of vehicle registered

Other Information:

The plates may not be personalized.

The distinctive license plate follows the owner and are not transferable.

The surviving spouse of a veteran fitting this criteria may not obtain the plate.

The surviving spouse of a veteran fitting this criteria may not retain the plate.

Additional Fees:

  • $3 when metal plate is issued
  • The net proceeds of the $3 are distributed to base in accordance with the provisions of Sections 40-12-269 and 40-12-270, Code of Ala. 1975.
