The K9 for Vets distinctive license plate has exceeded the minimum required number of pre-commitments and will be available for issuance beginning August 1, 2017. Personalized and pre-numbered license plates featuring the design may be ordered using the Plate Reservation and Ordering System (PROS) system beginning August 1, 2017. Distribution information from the State Comptroller’s office will be provided soon.
The Fighting Cystic Fibrosis, University of Montevallo, and Race Plate category license plates have been redesigned for issuance beginning August 1, 2017. NOTE – there are several new race plate categories and the following race plate categories will no longer be available/valid beginning August 1, 2017: Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Juan Pablo Montoya, Ryan Newman, and Tony Stewart. All prenumbered and personalized plates featuring the new designs may be ordered using the PROS beginning August 1, 2017.
The tag number scheme for the plates may be found on the Motor Vehicle Division website at https://revenue.alabama.gov/motor-vehicle/. In the ‘Reference & Statistics’ box, click on the link ‘Registration File Information.’
