SUBJECT: New/Redesigned License Plates for Issuance Beginning Sept. 1, 2020

Beginning September 1, 2020, there will be a new distinctive license plate for GYN Cancer Awareness. A shipment of plates was ordered for each county based on the pre commitment report numbers for each county. Please note personalized and pre-numbered plates may be ordered on the Plate Reservation and Ordering System (PROS) and additional bulk orders for pre-numbered plates may be ordered using the Alabama Inventory Management System (AIMS) beginning September 1, 2020.

The University of Alabama at Huntsville and the Tuskegee University plates have been redesigned and will be available for issuance beginning September 1, 2020. A shipment of plates will be ordered based on the number of current registrations in each county. Please note personalized and pre-numbered plates may be ordered on the Plate Reservation and Ordering System (PROS), and any additional bulk orders needed may be placed using the Alabama Inventory Management System (AIMS) beginning September 1, 2020. At that time, please remember to remove all license plates with the old design from your shelves and retain them for audit purposes.

The tag numbering schemes for the license plates may be found on the Motor Vehicle Division website at https://revenue.alabama.gov/motor-vehicle/ under “Reference & Statistics” then “Registration File Information.”
