Derrick Coleman joined the team at the Alabama Department of Revenue in 1993, beginning his career in the Vehicle Valuation Section of the Property Tax Division. Prior to being named Deputy Commissioner, Derrick served as Director of the Property Tax Division, building on his experience as a supervisor in the Real Property and Field Operations sections of the division.
As Deputy Commissioner, Derrick is responsible for overseeing Income Tax Audit and Appeals, Financial Operations, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Investigations.
When away from the office, Derrick enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is a native of Hope Hull, Alabama, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a Master of Accountancy degree from The Alabama State University.
