The Firefighters’ Personnel Standards and Education Commission will provide a list of all members of paid or part-paid fire departments on their website for the licensing officials’ offices. The registrant’s name must appear on the list in order to be eligible to receive the Professional Fire Fighter license plate. If the registrant’s name is not on the list, the registrant may present to the licensing official proof of his or her membership in a fire department by means of a certificate signed by the chief officer of the fire department on a form prescribed by the Firefighters’ Personnel Standards and Education Commission.

Registration Fees:

Registration: $15.00- $105.00 depending on the type of vehicle being registered.

  • $1.00 annually
  • $5.00 when metal plate is issued

The net proceeds of the $1.00 will be distributed into a fund managed by the Alabama Joint Fire Council and shall be used for the purpose of expanding and maintaining the Alabama Firefighter Memorial located in Tuscaloosa and for training expenses associated with the Firefighter Peer Support Program. The net proceeds of the $5 shall be distributed to the Department of Revenue.
