Here's how you know
All residents of Alabama who are owners of luggage trailers, folding or collapsible camping trailers, and other small trailers of similar size and function may purchase license plates in this category. Boat trailers are not included in the definition of utility trailers and are not registered. The trailers must be privately owned and not operated for hire, lease or rental.
The plates may not be personalized.
The plates are not transferable between vehicle owners.
This plate may be displayed upon the following types of vehicles:
Section 40-12-240 defines a utility trailer as a trailer primarily designed to be drawn by a passenger car or pickup truck, including luggage trailers, folding or collapsible camping trailers, and other small trailers of similar size and function, but shall not include boat trailers.
The license plate design changes every five (5) years.
The registration fees are distributed to the Public Road and Bridge Fund as well as cities and counties.
