NOTICE
TO: All Tobacco Wholesalers and Retailers
SUBJECT: Coosa County Tobacco Taxes
By resolution in accordance with Section 11-3-11.2, Code of Alabama 1975, as amended, the Coosa County Commission decided to begin self-collecting its county tobacco taxes. Therefore, the April 2022 Monthly County Tobacco Tax Return, due no later than May 20, 2022, will be the final return to report activity and remit Coosa County tobacco taxes to the Alabama Department of Revenue.
Please be aware that under the Department’s administration, tax stamps were used to collect Coosa County’s cigarette tax. Any taxpayers with an inventory of Coosa County stamps must return the unaffixed stamps to the Department; however, the refund may need to be processed by Coosa County.
Any questions concerning the collection and administration of Coosa County tobacco tax activities after April 30, 2022, must be directed to the Coosa County Commission.
Please ensure that the person responsible for filing county tobacco tax returns receives this notice.
